Tracey Emin (b. 1963, London, England) was raised in the seaside town of Margate on the English coast. After leaving school at an early age, Emin enrolled at Maidstone College of Art in Kent at the age of 20 to study painting. She continued her studies in London where she completed a Masters in Painting at the Royal College of Art. A consummate storyteller, Emin engages the viewer with her candid exploration of universal emotions. Using experiences from her own life, she often reveals painful situations with brutal honesty and poetic humor in a wide variety of media—film, painting, neon, embroidery, drawing, installation and sculpture.
